In modern life, it often seems like everyone has a crazy schedule. Since I work in dyslexia tutoring, I get a chance to peek into others’ schedules on a regular basis. For a dyslexia tutor, the approach of a new season or school year can be a stressful event, because they are suddenly faced with a large number of students to fit into a limited number of spots. Dyslexia tutors typically tutor between the hours of 3:30pm and 8:30pm after school, and it is within these available hours that they must find times for all of their students.
Now, if these students had wide open schedules, the task might not be so difficult, but when you start to throw in sports, music lessons, dance lessons, clubs, and every other sort of activity, the task can become quite chaotic!
Despite the busyness of schedules these days, it is important to make reading and spelling a priority for your child. These skills are absolutely fundamental to life, and as a result, should be as a high priority. Of course, it’s important to have a balanced life for your child, and give them opportunities to explore other areas. When these activities are done in moderation, there should still be plenty of time for your child to get the help they need with reading and spelling. If these skills are not made a priority, the results can be difficult to deal with, so try to put them at the top of the list.
