Dyslexia and speech issues can be closely tied together. In my years as a dyslexia tutor, I have noticed that students who have difficulty reproducing certain sounds when they are spelling or reading may also have difficulty pronouncing these sounds. Dyslexia tutors often spend time helping students get used to forming these sounds, and sometimes, a dyslexia tutor will have a dyslexic student repeat a word several times to make sure they are getting the pronunciation just right. A student’s ability to hear a sound and reproduce a sound can be closely related to their ability to understand that sound.
